JULY 13, 2004 - WAREHOUSE NEXT DOOR - The A.K.s,
Die Cheerleader Die, Porch Mob, No More (fl).
This show heralded the fucking return of the AKs to the nation's capitol
with a vengence. The Warehouse is a great place to play, and the location is to DIE! for. None other than the
illustrious Scott of the legendary OP was on drums for us and Alexi came straight from work and we practiced before the
show at the place. Elise played bass for us and Nico watched while wearing dress shoes and a cut off shirt. We played
second I think after DCD who had some new song and rocked and Scott tackled Alexi and spilled his beer and there were
a fucking good many people there to see the AKs. We ripped through our set at breakneck OP speed and even tried to play
two OP covers: Pickle was amazing and Down With The Ship was nearly recognizable. Scott was so into it that he just
kept playing after the songs were done. As always there was chaos with Divorce Court which I think we played at least
2 or 3 times and Nick Popo of the Shakedowns came on and played drums for us at some point. The evolution towards the
full replacement of the AKs had begun! Amidst the destruction, Johnnay/Juan/he stole my cowboy boots dude of the Shakedowns
picked Alexi up with someone else and held him upside down swinging him around in circles while scratching his
stomach as Alexi continued singing and later some little girl climbed onto Alexi's back only to be slammed back down
on her head nearly breaking her neck. Good ol! Porch Mob were actually really good, but they say they dont play much,
but did a Iron Maiden guitar lick question which Alexi regrets to this day he couldnt answer. It was Rhyme of the Ancient
Mariner you dumbass! No More was a pretty good band who seemed really happy about playing and tried to propagate consipracy
theories. Plus if I remember correctly none other than BATES was at the show and his poor girl got an earful of Scurvay on
the way back home. Plus I nearly forgot! As the AKs took the stage at the Warehouse Next Door, next door, at the warehouse
(ohhhh!) none other than the bane of our existance: Jack Evans - salaciously evil council member was having a convention!
Of course Noah wasnt at the show.
DECEMBER 28, 2003 - U-TURN - The A.K.s, Alleged Bricks,
The Unabombers (VA Beach) , Scrutiny, other people or something
This was quite a good show. We were going to go on 4th or something out
of 5 or 6, but ended up playing first which actually worked out well, as by the time the show got going everyone was
already there and ready to rock. Spoonboy and the bowlcuts etc came to rock out with us and knew all our lyrics and
just had fun. Divorce Court was quite appropriate on this day as the Eagles had just beat the Redskins. Alleged
Bricks were good and some crazy old woman was just dancing like a motherfcuker and wanted to dance with Justin and he danced
like no other gettin his groove on and shakin that thang. That woman ruled. Scrutiny was ok i mean they have some
good songs but they need to move around a bit more on stage i mean the drummer moves the most out of the three of them. Plus
i think they were actually at that other show at the U-turn not this one. The Unabombers were actually prettyy
good. Their drummer was really cool but their last song went on for about as long as jordans socksa wiw be dew fo.
DECEMBER 19, 2003 - CHARM CITY ART SPACE (Baltimore) -
The A.K.s , The Vote, The Banned, This Year Passed, The Over(didnt play)privileged
I cant beleive we found this place without any trouble. Peter came
along and filmed us. All bands except one were from out of town but there still was a good amount of people. Scoot
organized it but of course didnt show up til it was over because he fell asleep on the road. Keith was outside freaking
out about this the hwole time. This Year Passed was ok i guess they took ten yeas to set up and had keybords but their drummer
and singer were cool, they broke a string and took another ten yeas to sort that out eventually borrowing ours - neo-metal
lalala type music, the drummer played drums and keyboard at the same time. The cieling panel was falling down. Then we played,
we ruled and ripped the place apart. There was someting with justins guitar i think but i think it was a good set overall,
sold some albums, got pictures taken. The Vote were damn good, recognized the guy from when in roam, good ol punk really.
The Banned were very good. They were not so easy to describe (the Band/the Banned ohhhh) defintely had their own sound but
i think theyre breaking up- great solos punk/quality rock, werent that many people around by then. Then came Scott and
the OP were going to play but just didnt because they suck.
June 26, 2003 - U-TURN - The Magnums, The A.K.s, Guerilla
Transmission, 1 more
This show was a
long time ago. The Magnums were good because they are a good band. I dont think they did a ACDC cover this time
but i think they did some other cover. Guerilla Transmission was interesting. They were sort of new age metal
weirdness with this bald guy alternatly screaming and singing into a mic while he fiddled with some thing on a table that
made his voice keep going while he wasnt singing. I should listen to their cd I have it. Does anyone remember
the other band/s? We were good and sold some albums i believe.
MAY 31, 2003 - U-TURN - Graveyard School, The Magnums, The Apathetics, Urgent Action,
The A.K.s
Now this was a fuckin good show. Graveyard School rocked
the place with their crazy thrashin Misfitsy hardcore, with their awesome lead woman on vocals with awesome spikey hair and
piercings like no other. The Magnums rocked hard as usual with their ACDC-influenced punk rock action, even covering
"Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap." the girl who leads on vocals for them sure knows how to rock. The Apathetics and
Urgent Action were quality punk rock as well from what I remember. The AKs tore it up of course, thrashing out a thrashtastic
set. We even sold some CDs. Suffice it to say we blasted everyone there with a wang dang sweet poontang artillery
barrage of utter thrash destruction. And they liked it. So there.
MAY 16, 2003 - St. ALBANS
- The Nackles, TMLE, The Bowlcuts, The A.K.s, Subterranean Fire and some other bands
Good lord why do we do these school shows. Subterranean
Fire opened and was a fairly good punk band but then the other bands besides the ones listed above were just so bad,
i mean so bad and stupid it was quite horrible. And of course the band that consists of some idiot guys doing shitty
Zeppelin covers while some atonal guy with pink sagging shorts raps while looking at a sheet of paper in his hand, they get
all the time they want and then the good bands at the end get screwed. All the above bands i think had to cut their
sets short including us who barely played half our set, and teachers stormed on stage during our set and accused us of being
drunk and asked to smell my breath. Yes its us that actually are putting on a good show and not wearing pink shorts
while rapping that are drunk. Makes sense to me.
MAY 9, 2003,
THE MAJESTIC - Tonight We Escape (PA), Vicious Stiches, the A.K.s, the Social Dropouts
This was an interesting night to say the least.
The place was over in Anacostia, but beleive it or not we got there on time, that is except for Justin of course I mean that
could never happen. However all that was in vain for we could have come 3 hours late and still been on time ot play
because we spent the first 3 hours sitting around while the cracked out owner ran around setting up a chain link fence in
the middle of the place. There werent that many people besides the bands and some 40 year old looking guy smoking weed
who took charge of setting up the fence and then during the music ran around jumping on everything. Our set was good
but there werent that many people there and the ones that were did nothing. I think all that waiting around watching
a chain link fence get set up took out much of the energy from the populace. The other bands were good too. the
Social Dropouts opened and definately rocked the place, despite the general loss of energy. Fast-paced in-your-face
girl fronted punk rock from NoVA i think. the Vicious Stitches were good as well but we unfortunately had to leave early
just as they had started playing since it was already about three hours later than it should have been at that point and some
people had to get home. As for the venue, I heard the poor guy trying to get this place off the ground quit not too
long after this show. He had alot of big plans but the owner i think was out of her mind.
APRIL 26, 2003, U-TURN - The Rejected, The A.K.s, Lenny James and the Skullchicks, Part Time
Hero
Im sure we had some shows between January and April. Anyways this was a good show. We of
course rocked the casbah basically. The Rejected were real good guitar driven punk, with only two people,
a guitarist and drummer with both on vocals i think. The guitarist works at Steak and Egg. Lenny James was strange
but good. They had a lot of people and had two chicks, one that actually played an instrument and one that just
stood on stage and must have been stoned or something. I'm not quite sure what role she played. I dont remember
Part Time Hero they might not have played or someone else might have instead or something.
JANUARY 11, 2003, U-TURN - The AKs, Misalaneeosseeds, Big Daddy Chrome, that other band with
the drunk bassist
Dont remember much about this either. Misalaneeosseeds fucking ruled the shock out universe. Its truly
a shocking experiance. It enlarges your mind and stretches your perceptions to previously unexplored acres of unfathomed
horizons. Bid Daddy Chrome are also fucking awsome. They played I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry by ol Hank Williams
and a bunch of other rockin guitar pickin punk/country inspired type tunes. Their guitarist is damn good. We had
a set that was as good as their gutarist but since its the U-Turn no one moves or anything and they all pretend to hate you
(sometimes, but the scene there has hence improved its thrashism levels). That other band was good too and their bassist
got mad at us when we played Divorce Court and was at least doing something and spilled his beer so Noah and I were slippin
and slidin all day long. Also Mystic and Drama had a cool sign.
DECEMBER 21, 2002, U-TURN - Bleeder Resistor, the AKs, others.
I dont remember anything about this show. The OP were supposed to play but didn't.
Scott came I think and was drunk and squatted and farted. Bleeder Resister were good from what I remember. I don't
remember who else played. I think Missalanious Seeds might have played and of course shocked out the living daylights
of the surrounding populace. We had a good set and Bobby stood on Noah's shoulders or something I dont know. If anyone
else can remember anything put it here.
NOVEMBER 2, 2002, UNITARIAN-UNIVERSALIST CHURCH - The
AKs, No Apparent Reason, Soul Doubt, Bloody Diock, Look Out Below
This is drew this is drew!
OCTOBER 25, 2002, THE ELECTRIC MAID - The AKs, Carrion,
Dysrhythmia, Bionic Man, The Dead Stars, Skyline Awake
This was a fucking good show. We were supposed to be 3rd but
we ended up playing 2nd after the Dead Stars, which was pretty damn good stuff, thrashing band with a screaming vocalist,
quite good. It was our first show in a while, and we were definately rock and roll and out of control. Awesome
pit going the whole time, completely out of control so much so that spoonboy had to make an announcement that everyone come
closer to the stage and away from the window with their craziness. we tried out a new set to practice for the album,
everything was executed with our trademark finesse except we screwed up on Mutiny but it didnt really matter and Bobby took
some good pictures and Ben did a solo after we were done that lasted for as long as our set. Awesomeness. Bionic
Man went next they rocked the place too just quality punk tunes. Skyline Awake were also a good band, lots of instrumentl
stuff didnt sing much but were a pleasure to listen to, melodic. Carrion is fucking amazing. Listening to them
is pure ecstasy when your next to me. We've played with them before but missed them once and the other time were too
retarded to realize their incrediblness. Quality metal with these little guitar licks that sound really amazing.
Indescribable. Ok then, we thought Carrion was indescribable, picture this, its late, most people have left, only cool people
are still around, three guys get onstage and frankly their drummer looks like some cubicle-working math major in college,
their guitarist is some guy with a huge swoosh mop on his head and then the world turns upside down, we all fall out of it
and through the drummer's extreme hardcore destruction, the guitarists irksome pained expression and the bassists completely
out of control yet completely in control style of 7-string-bass playing the audience goes through the progression of first
"oh more noise" then "what is this?" then "wait a second" then "this is really good" then "this is incredible its beyond my
comprehension" then "i am on a completely different plane in the universe listening to this music, what the hell is going
on how are they creating these sounds?" frankly with Dysrhythmia you have to hear it/be transported to the nexus of the universe
and back, to believe it
SEPTEMBER 20, 2002 (justin's birthday motherfucker),
ROYAL LEE - The AKs, The Overpriveledged, The Screws, Spitfires United, Ubango, some more bands from out of town
This was the last all ages Royal Lee show and we didn't really play
but we ended the show with a rendition of what I think was Revelutionary Fever with Elise on drums and with no mikes due the
the extreme carnage of The OP that had just played before. We got there late as usual and Noah and Alexi were retarded
and wandered off somewhere in Virginia, but eventually made it there with some help from a drunk redneck and a cool guy that
gave them a ride a few blocks. Of course they were still there before justin. There were about 5000 people there,
however, fie be pon it for we missed The Screws. Ubango was a completely demented psychobilly cave man band with a naked
guy singing and banging on a snare. Spitfires were awsome and The OP were not able to play any of their songs because
everyone was too busy doing it for them and smashing the stage and Scott. Good ol. There was also a rambling fat
old guy.
JULY 13 2002, CHURCH BASEMENT - The AKs, Blatent
Finger (OH), Ante Up (VA Beach), The Overprivileged
This was a great venue in an asbestos filled church basement that
was a benefit for the closed Electric Maid. Marlon was on hand to present us with the visual imagery of space and dead
bodies. Blatant Finger was pretty good not-so hardcore stuff, Ante Up didnt play so they got The Cheerleaders of the
Apocalypse, yes. The OP ruled everything as usual. We stopped the show in the middle to listen to Marlon's sales pitch
for the Maid. We were fairly out of control, but still quite good from what I remember. I think dan or keith said
it was a good performance in terms of a live show not in terms of music quality. There was something about Noah jumping
over my head and someone being speared by a mikestand. Oh yeah and Drew was there drew drew drew drew drew
JUNE 29 2002, LEWIE'S - The Mauvites, Bitchslap,
The AKs, the Standards, Blind Society
yeah this was good ol in the sense that stresses the ol part because
we sure were like the days of old, meaning noah on guitar, justin on bass and alexi, yes alexi on drums, we did an OP cover
which scott didnt recognize, The Mauvities were young fairly good needed more experiance copied us with a cover of knowledge,
Bitchslap looked like in a year they could be really good, female guitarist/vocals, the standards were really bad outkast
shirted ska, Blind Society was incredible and really does remind me of us, the OP were there but didnt get to play, dont
get me started about this show
JUNE 27 2002, U-TURN - The A.K.s, The Screws, Screwtiny,
Carrion
This show was over 21 but they let us play and stay around.
This is a fucking cool venue. Not many people when we first came but as the night went on it filled up fairly well with
dudes that pretty much counted as 3 people. The place had neato disco lights and smoke. We played with Elise on
drums and David on base. The set was kindof ok. Well all quality we lacked was made up by incessant screaming,
spasming, fighting and of course waving billowing flowing hair long beautiful hair HAIR! In the words of Carrion's drummer
we were "fine, just fine" They played before us and were good ol metal that is awsome and their drummer was amazing.
We were second. After us was Screwtiny with the Babies with Rabies bassist (Johnny Bones) and they were good, definetly
very good. Just three person good ol hard punk always good to listen to. Their singer was drunk and rambling about
breaking other guitarists ankles. So, just when we thought it couldnt get any better, along comes THE SCREWS and they
sure screwed us chock full of rockin goodness. Hell Yeah! these guys are awsome! They fucking rule, also feuturing Johnny
Bones on bass, their frontman is a short feisty guy that really knows how to work a crowd up. There was moshing and
a whole lot o singing along. Besides their incredible orginal stuff, they played Just What I Needed by the Cars, The
Jeffersons Theme and ACDC's masterpiece Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap! They fucking rocked, not the mention the hot chick making
out with another girl whose top came off! Good ol!
MAY 24 2002, SMOKEY JOE'S (Warrenton) - The
A.K.s, The Manic, When In Roam (PA), Operation Hazel, the Overprivileged
Good show, although our set was not the best. We were gonna
go second and be back-to-back with the OP, but the Manic's bassist was late and they wanted to get the show started, so we
went first. Aren't we nice guys. And this would have been fine, except that no one bothered to get the electronics
(amps, PA, etc.) GROUNDED before we played, so when we played, everytime we touched eachother even the slightest bit, we got
electrocuted. It was horrible. We couldnt come near eachother, which is especially difficult for us since we're
used to thrashing like mad and hitting each other all over the stage. So our thrash was definately subdued somewhat,
but we did our best to rock out nevertheless. We hadnt practiced that much in a while, and Ben couldnt play this show
so we had Elise as backup drummer, and she was quite good considering this was her first show with us, but we still had a
few fuck-ups. After us, the Manic played some quite bad and whiny pop-punk. Then the OP just rocked and tore the
place down, except that there is a no-moshing rule, so we all had to contain ourselves, which was very difficult. This
rule also almost got us kicked out when we jumped off the stage into the crowd at the end of our set. When in Roam played
a good set of melodic hardcore. Operation Hazel were quite good, playing Operation Ivy-esque ska-punk. Very skilled
and very good. A good show, but we could have done without the electrocution. Electrocution rules!
APRIL 19 2002, NCS BATTLE OF THE BANDS - The A.K.s,
other bad pop school cool dude bands
So we ventured down back from Kaffa house in a mighty convoy
to NCS where we entered, already pumped and raring to go again. We had to endure soem horrible pop punk band before us with
light blue drums, but when we went on we were subsequently very rude to everyone and started our set. We werent allowed
to curse so Noah looked like he was constipated everytime he wanted to articulate himself further. We tore the place
down and swung it around like John Bonham's mike cord. Several stupid people left becasue their precious eardrums were
complaining. The crowd that stayed was pretty big and into the music. Standard set, not as hardcore as usual or
as the previous show, but decent and solid. Afterward we got alot of praise and distributed alot of stickers. Surprisingly
the music teacher that organized the thing really liked us and thanked us repeatedly for playing. They did use our PA
after all. Good ol school show. And... we WON!!! The AKs are the VICTORS of the NCS BATTLE! we rock. ohhhhh
yeahhhh. we won a papaya that i ate
APRIL 19 2002, KAFFA HOUSE - The A.K.s, Nackles,
Linus, Blowback, Cheerleaders of the Apocalypse
Best night in AKs history! Double header today! Oh yeah! We got
this show the night before and we were also supposed to play NCS Battle so we decided to play both shows. ohhh yeah.
The Kaffa show was some benefit for protestors. Not that many people. Alexi got there at 6 when we were supposed
to (wow isnt he just the coolest guy ever). Everyone else was more than an hour late. We went on first because
we had to hurry to the other show. Good solid blasting of a show, we tore that place open like a bag of chips! Extremeness
started even before Desperate Times, Jordan pulled out his cord and Billy wore the lord of darkness hood. Justin's amp
went flying off the stage and smacked on the ground at the Desperate extreme ending. Definetly good stuff. Kaffa rocks.
APRIL 14 2002, JAXX - The A.K.s, Green Canteen, Blades
End, Nuclear Impulse, Seminal
We had to sell lots of tickets for this show and it was a pain in
the ass, especially for Annie. Jaxx is awesome. The likes of Quiet Riot, Al di Meola and David Allen Coe have
graced that stage, and now, so have the AKs. Its so far out and we got lost but we got there eventually and marveled at the
size of the place and the system. The Afghan Kabob place is next door. However, we soon realized that we'ed forgotten
our cymbals, no problem we borrowed some. We had to go on first for some reason and we sounded amazing on that system.
Our set was stupendous. The only problem was that there werent any people there. Since we were first there were
hardly any people but we rocked the place and our loyal following was there to mosh with 4 people. The other bands sucked.
Rapcore sucks. Enough said. We got paid 25 bucks. Also this was our first show with our new second guitarist Billy who
learned all the stuff real fast.
MARCH 16, 2002, ANNIE'S HOUSE - The motherfucking
A.K.s
Extreme house party show. Unfortunetly, one of their friends had
just died in a drag racing accident. However i think we lifted peoples spirits with some punk rock and roll. Crazy
set with ultimate destruction. Noah and Alexi had a tiny little vocal amp that made them sound like they were being
shoved through a food processor, Justin broke I dont know how many strings, Jordan just ripped his chord out of his amp for
a song, Alexi kicked a lamp and broke it, and somehow the blinds from a window fell on Ben, while he broke several of his
sticks and ended up playing with a half-stick. I think they apprecaited it. Definately awesome and hardcore to
the extreme. A lot of fun. Rock on!
MARCH 1 2002, CAFE TATTOO (Baltimore) - The A.K.s,
Erase The Past, Vengeance Theory, STRIPT!!!, Carrion and some bad emo band
Got there, plugged in and played, decent set, quite energetic, but
somewhat rusty because we hadn't practiced in a while. Baltimore skins didn't dance but seemed to enjoy it, sold several Demos
and gave out several stickers. Erase The Past and Vengeance were good slam dance inducing hardcore metal goodness, although
slam dancing is kind of stupid in general. But, but, BUT, STRIPT!!!! was fucking awsome! They were incredibly old, mulletted,
stoned and the singer screaching beer bellied 80s rocker who rolled his eyes into the back of his head to gain power for his
ball grabbing thrusts of high noted shrillness. Jordan really liked them. Also, Ben was a smart guy and crashed
his car while driving without a license.
JANUARY 12 2002, ELECTRIC MAID - The A.K.s, Babies
With Rabies, Kerum, Cheerleaders of The Apocalypse, All Imune (NY), the Macauly Culprits (NY)
Best show ever. Completely awesome and to the extreme in every
way. Absolutely amazing. We organized this one at the most excellent Electric Maid and I must say, it was quite
a success. First we had the two touring bands from NY. Both were some screamo-hardcore with good energy.
Macauly Culprits were especially screamo and kind of strange in that sense, with the vocalist/bassist sending out ear-destroying
screams and using a drumstick on his bass. Babies with Rabies rocked and got the place really going. They did
an awesome cover of Twisted Sister's "I Wanna Rock," which was especially good. Cheerleaders of the Apocalypse, on the
other hand, were not quite as good... in fact, they were quite ugly sounding and dreary and their guitarist looked like he
was having orgasms when he soloed. But never fear... for the fucking A.K.s were next, and we fucking ROCKED. Just
an incredible set, an incredible show. The massive crowd we had all came back inside and they fucking loved it.
Everyone was going absolutely fucking insane. There was moshing everywhere. We had so much energy and thrash it
was just astounding. A fucking CIRCLE PIT even started, with the whole crowd just going round and round like Ratt.
Absolutely awesome and excellent. Kerum went after us and played a good set of B-more hardcore. Thrashtastic.
DECEMBER 8 2001, ELECTRIC MAID - The AKs, strange
bad techno-ska band, the Max Levine Ensemble, the Pocket Rockets
Good show, we played a decent thrash set to the crowd's enjoyment.
But then there was this absolutely horrid band (if you can call it a band) consisting of a bad singer playing bad guitar,
a bassist, and a guy making techno electronica sounds through a complicated series of unnecessary electronic devices.
That was just bad. They need to not. TMLE once again had a good show, which everyone enjoyed, especially since
most of the people there were there specifically for Max Levine. Pocket Rockets were also not that good, a girl band
playing some sort of strange indie-rock or something. But all in all, a decent show.
NOVEMBER 25 2001,
CAFE TATTOO (Baltimore)- Crayons, the AKs, Stricknine, Weemal Deemal, the Wasteland Babies
Cool place.
Punk rock bar with lots of baltimore hardcore dudes around. Bartender (probably owner too) was an asshole though. Nice elevated
stage for playing, although a bit small, but we managed. Crayons played first, some pretty crappy acoustic indie type stuff.
We played next and had another thrashtastic good set. Although we didnt seem to make much of an impression on the skin types
or metalheads, there were a few punk rockers in the crowd who thoroughly enjoyed our set and complemented us afterwards. One
guy even took our number and said he'd get us a show at the Sidebar. Havnt heard from him since. Figures. Next was Stricknine
who took around an HOUR to set up, with their super mega electronic deathmetal drumset, but when they were finally set up,
they unleashed a storm of pure metal noise. Awesome. Incredible guitar and drums. But we left after one song, for we had to
get back to D.C.
NOVEMBER 16 2001, JAMIE'S GENERAL BEAN (Centreville)- The AKs, the Overprivileged,
Tied in Knots
Crazy night. It took us forever to get out to this place in Centreville, VA, and it was tough
getting out there. We were already leaving late as usual, and then in the middle of highway 66 Alexi's car breaks down or
something and we have to pull of the side of the road with all these cars going 70 or 80 mph rushing by us. Apparently his
oil light went on and he was going wild. We survived till we got to the place, which was a punk rock coffee store, and man
that place is small. Our playing area was tiny, and we had a hell of a time trying to thrash in that little space. There were
hardly any people there anyways, and the ones who were there were outside being losers. We got some of them to come in for
our last song, Desperate Times, though. We started the show with just one functioning mic, which was difficult, and Keith
of the OP almost lost his glasses lens. Later, two cars smacked right into eachother. Weird. OP and Tied in Knots were quite
good though, although I myself was not too partial to the vocals on tied in knots, or the seeming lack of sufficient energy.
Yes but wiffle ball wiffle.
NOVEMBER 10 2001, ELECTRIC MAID - The AKs, the Max Levine Ensemble, the
Overprivileged, the Gamma Rays
This was the BEST (as in the most fucking thrashtastically awsome) show ever
recorded in the annals of AKs history. We got there, sat on a couch for a while, and played. There was no space on stage but
that just added to the extremeness. It was the first time we played our new set, and it knocked the socks off of a very enthusiastic
crowd that included Scott of the OP and some other somewhat cool people, such as a cool mohawk girl. We played our two new
songs, Fuck the Redskins and Desperate Times. The latter was a resounding success with our awesome ending that includes Alexi
screaming "Wait for it!" several times and then, as scott put it, wham! bam! slam! it was like king of the hill on the stage.
Later we had a good ol' hoe down mosh pit while the Overprivileged played and the little badass punk rock chick moshed with
us even though we were about 10 feet taller than her. Definetly a good show! Max Levine Ensemble was quite good as well hitting
us with a little mix of punk and rockin and boppin type tunes. OP was good as usual. Gamma rays we didnt see because alexi
and jordan are pussys.
NOVEMBER 2
2001, SIDWELL - The AKs and shit talent acts
Open stage night. Pretty bad show. After sitting through
incredibly shitty and boring improve acts, excessivly long poetry recitals, excruciatingly painful-to-listen-to girls singing
in chorus with acoustic guitars, all of which spawned over a period of about 2 of the most horrible hours of my life, we finally
got to play. We were the "grand finale." And what a finale it was. We drove over half the people out during our first song,
and after our first two songs probably one fourth of the original people were left. But the loyal fans who remained enjoyed
the show, which lacked its usual extreme hardcore thrash nature due to the temporary lack of vocalist Noah, who had prior
important arrangements. We played decently i guess, but the crowd still sucked ass.
SEPTEMBER 29 2001,
FORT RENO - The Nackles, the Bowlcuts, the Max Levine Ensemble, the Nothing Squad, the AKs, the Alphabet Bombers, the
Gamma Rays, the Overprivileged
Benefit show for Red Cross. Absolutely incredible. Best show ever. Great bands,
great crowd, and great organization by us. We organized the entire show, with help from Spoonboy, and it went amazingly well.
We even had our own PA for it. Words cannot describe the awesomeness. It was 100% pure punk rock n roll. Bands were: The Nackles,
the Bowlcuts, the Nothing Squad, the Max Levine Ensemble, the AKs, the Alphabet Bombers, the Gamma Rays, and the Over(fuckin)privileged.
What a lineup. All the bands were excellent. We played possibly our best, most hardcore and thrashin' set ever. Nico's guitar
was re-smashed during an extreme "Money." The crowd loved it. There was even a good deal of moshing. After our set, many people
asked for our CD and for future shows we're playing at. Wow. Many new AKs fans. We now have an extreme awesome fan base. The
other bands loved us as well. Everyone was blown away. The Overprivileged also had a notably hardcore performance, with lots
of moshing and pure fighting by us. If you werent there, you sure missed out.
SEPTEMBER 21 2001, G.D.S.
- The AKs, the Butternut Boys, Said and Done, Ben Sheehan's awesome band, others
Benefit for 9/11. Deafening,
destructive, and insane. The set was awesome even though Justin broke a string on the second song. Not many people there for
our set, since we played last and it was at our school full of losers, but we rocked anyways. I'm sure we drove more people
out as we cranked out feedback and other unnessecary noise. We were definately far better than the other bands, especially
Mattias's "pop-punk" band who played before us. Nico and Cliff Caplan smashed a guitar on stage and David Miller broke a music
stand while utter destruction was rampant! Amazing enegy and force! The battle was won today onward to other victories!
SEPTEMBER
8 2001, LANDON - The AKs, the Bowlcuts, the Nothing Squad, the Max Levine Ensemble, Fallus in Wonderland, others
Benefit
for something or other. Very good professional set! Our quality was incredible, but it sucked because we had to play first
and no one was into it yet. But several awesome people who saw us and some of the other bands loved us. Many new AKs fans
were made. Hardcore moshing ensued during the Bowlcuts and Nothing Squad, where we fought with some Landon jock assholes and
Alexi tore his ACL. Hardcore.
G.D.S.
VARIETY SHOW 2001 - The AKs, Said and Done, crappy talent acts
This was a one song performance. Liberty
was chosen for the slot and was deployed with a little restraint but with a good explosive volley of incomprehensible lyrics
and guitar noise. A stunning performance, appreciated by many.
W.I.S. BATTLE OF THE BANDS 2001
- The AKs, the Bowlcuts, other various shitty rap-metal and hip-hop bands
This was the most extreme performance
in A.K.s history! Absolutly incredible. A powerful reportoir and energy that deafened people a mile away was combined with
an awsome moch (yes moch, as in i'm the macho man ohhhhh snap into a slim jim) and total insanity. Noah and Alexi, the lead
singers, were kicked out for violence. This was the AKs experiance at its best. Truly spectacular. Bull-cuts were also very
good!
G.D.S. BATTLE OF THE BANDS 2000 - The AKs, the Killbilliez, Dead Alive, the Coppers, the
Butternut Boys, Junior Watt, and Xyphoid Project.
This year's Battle of the Bands was a great success. The
AKs but on a spectacular performace full of energy and noise. Although The AKs did not win, their performance was among the
best at the show. Xyphoid Project was the winner of the Battle
